Ikusa Otome Valkyrie 2 Stream

Ah! It's Thanks Giving!

To be honest I don't really know the historical reason for the Thanks Giving fest. But I'll be willing to learn all about it if you tell me ;)

However we - that is my boyfriend, my best friend and me - decided to celebrate Thanks Giving on our own terms.
1. We didn't do it on Thursday since we all had to work that day. We did it on Friday.
2. We didn't celebrate with our familys but on our own. It was just the three of us.
3. We celebrated it as a day you spend with your loved ones, on which we all say our Thank Yous for whatever we are thankful for.

We had a lot of fun with it even though we didn't take it to serious. With that said I will share our evening with you in the form of some pictures :)

It all started with the stuffing:

Photobucket

- Okay, beforehand we had to buy all the ingredients - and I had to prepare the dough for the pie - but let's just say the cooking started with it ;)

mushrooms, onions, chicken liver (ugh!), toast, peas and some cranberrys...

Photobucket

...it all went into the turkey:

!attention! this picture is not for everyone!

Photobucket

The turkey was prepared and roasted in the oven for 2 hours.

Meanwhile my dear friend peeled some sweet potatoes and my boyfriend cut them into pieces.

Photobucket

Photobucket

here they are - lovely, right? ;)

I dealt with the cranberry sauce and the apple-cherry pie.
I peeled some apples for both and cut them into pieces. Logically the apples were mixed with cherrys (and some other ingredients) for the apple-cherry pie.

Photobucket

And with cranberrys and some brown sugar and lemon juice for the cranberry sauce.

Photobucket

This actually tasted much better than it looked!

The apple-cherry mix went on the dough I had prepared:

and this was the crumble misture :)

I case you want the recipe, 'cause I'm not going to explain it here, I'll post the links at the end of the entry.

While we were waiting for everything to finish I visited the lazy folks and took some pictures:

And afterward we ate. :)

The sweet potato mash: was what we least liked. I suppose we're used to having boiled potatoes or potato dumplings to the meat.

Photobucket

The turkey was delicious, I was enthusiastic about the turkey-cranberry sauce combination. My boyfriend didn't like it so much. But we girls did :)

I also really liked the stuffing. It reminded me a bit of bread dumplings, very yummy.
But I would have left the cranberrys out, the sour taste didn't fit with the rest.

This is the full dish:

Oh, and the pie:

I don't even like coconut but this one I loved :)

All in all it was a lovely day and I hope it'll become a tradition. We already decided to try out a pumpkin pie next time. We wanted to bake one this year, but pumpkin time was in october, so in november there were no pumpkins anymore :(.

Happy Thanks Giving to everyone :)

time for some cookies

Today is the first advent - at least that's what we call it in Germany. It's the first sunday we celebrate until christmas (which is the fourth advent).

Because my boyfriend and I met with his parents and sister we bake some christmas cookies. The first batch. I prepared the dough yesterday and let it cool in the fridge over night. I have to say, these are some of the best cookies - if not THE best - I ever bake :)

Nothing went wrong, they looked exactly the way I wanted them to look and I didn't have to change the recipe at all. They were pretty easy to make.

So here are my pictures:

the first snow

The first snow fell today and since I had my day off I wanted to share some pictures with you. I went for a walk with my sister in law. I didn't take to many pictures though, 'cause I didn't want my camera to get wet :-D

This is the view from my living room window.

We drove up to some fields:

Shortly after we went back home all the snow had already vanished..

Im Looking For A Type Of Brain Teasers

Rudyard Kipling - The River's Tale

Twenty bridges from Tower to Kew
(Twenty bridges or twenty-two)
Wanted to know what the River knew,
For they were young and the Thames was old,
And this is the tale that the River told:

I WALK my beat before London Town,
Five hour up and seven down.
Up I go till I end my run
At Tide-end-town, which is Teddington.
Down I come with the mud in my hands
And plaster it over the Maplin Sands.
But I'd have you know that these waters of mine
Were once a branch of the River Rhine,
When hundreds of miles to the East I went
And England was joined to the Continent.

I remember the bat-winged lizard-birds,
The Age of Ice and the mammoth herds,
And the giant tigers that stalked them down
Through Regent's Park into Camden Town.
And I remember like yesterday
The earliest Cockney who came my way,
When he pushed through the forest that lined the Strand,
With paint on his face and a club in his hand.
He was death to feather and fin and fur.
He trapped my beavers at Westminster.
He netted my salmon, he hunted my deer,
He killed my heron off Lambeth Pier.
He fought his neighbour with axes and swords,
Flint or bronze, at my upper fords,
While down at Greenwich, for slaves and tin,
The tall Phoenician ships stole in.
And North Sea war-boats, painted and gay,
Flashed like dragon-flies, Erith way;
And Norseman and Negro and Gaul and Greek
Drank with the Britons in Barking Creek,
And life was gay, and the world was new,
And I was a mile across at Kew!
But the Roman came with a heavy hand, And bridged and roaded
and ruled the land,
And the Roman left and the Danes blew in - begin
And that's where your history-books!

Buchreview - Linger von Maggie Stiefvater

Linger conveys this feeling in the late autumn walk through a forest. Everything is cold, wet and uncomfortable. The nature of magically looks natural, across t. Fields on the floor, endless fields in the distance, it is completely silent, for in the rain, all animals have moved into their holes. It pulls you back into the house, because under their feet smacking the water in the grass, toes get wet and the cold creeps into your bones. And there, in the distance you can be warm lighted house. Immediately returns to a rest, and we arrived to be felt the feeling of being home to be sure.

For me this has always been Beck's house. Outdoors, in a forest. A retreat in which saves a safe and warm from the cold that prevails there.

It leaves an impression of this book.

I must say at first it did not like that Isabel and Cole were now part of the book, that is, that was also told from their perspective. Of course, it was necessary because they play more than supporting roles in the background of Sam and Grace. They run their own lives with their own thoughts. Unlike Rachel, for example, which appears only in conjunction with Sam and Grace.
But I got used to it and in retrospect I think it's pretty positive. Especially Isabel I could follow well. Cole would have been impossible to understand without his ideas and reviews.

The only thing I would have to "complain" about this book: At the end makes me sad Linger back and long for a sequel, where Shiver had made me happy and hopeful. However, after the first book was to be expected that something bad would happen. What book is after a happy ending on to more happiness? Just lucky? Das würde doch niemand lesen. Jedenfalls ich nicht ;)

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dieser Fortsetzung. Mehr, mehr, mehr ;)

Smoking Kills

Yes!
Smoking is toxic it's also addictive. You don't just hurt yourself with it you hurt the people around you. Doing drugs would never be allowed in public. Why? You don't hurt anyone with it except yourself...

So, maybe some people "like" (you can't really like that, can you? It's more like a habit, a need.. an addiction) to smoke after a meal in a restaurant or while taking a walk on a platform. But I don't want to breathe in the toxic (and by the way disgusting) smoke. If I'm in a restaurant I want to smell and taste nothing but my food or drink. I don't want to cough out my treatment, because someone finds it Necessary to inhale a bunch of shit). I see parents smoking while carrying their children. There are so many risks for those children and everyone surrounding smokers. I do not think it should only be banned in public places, but everywhere except for the own property!
